"Hook up Society" is what my generation has been labeled. Is it true? YES Is it good? NO probably not. However, people seem to get really defensive about it. It kind of shocks me that it shocks people. I mean we have grown in a society where the marriage rate and divorce rate are almost equal. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who lack respect for other's, other relationships, and themselves. None, of which are good!
Also, morals seem a thing of the past, which is even worse. I take a look around and know more people "seeing" multiple people, than I do in a serious relationship, and by NO means am I justifying the situation, I'm just saying that the way society is working it shouldn't shock people that some think of society this way.
Look at some of our marketing styles for misses clothing. I know when you get ready to go out you want to look good, BUT, when my shirt is made with less material than my eight year old cousin's shirt, come on now, that's a problem.
Technology has made it easy for people to not need to get into a relationship. I can add myself to tinder right now and find many people to "get with" . I can be on the phone with you telling you how much I want to be with you, while texting someone else, and have my laptop sending Facebook messages to whom ever I want. People really do that!
Now, the excuses are endless of why this happens, I don't want to commit, I'm too young to be serious, why be serious when I don't need to be, or I can get exactly what I want and not have to work for it so why would I? Those have been thrown out so much it's almost sad.
What happens when you find someone you really like , and you start to make that into a serious relationship, then after the "honeymoon phase" and the lust has dropped slightly, life is happening. You know, dog died, cat had kittens, bills, kids ( if it gets that far) well when life is rough are you going to be able to hold back those old reactions? After years of killing boredom, taking your mind off things, or just in the mood, are you going to be able to stop? Is our society doomed in the relationship aspect? We will have to see. But that doesn't mean we all need to succumb to this label. If you find someone you can see yourself with, go all in, enjoy it because sometimes it takes years to find that person. If your a person that likes relationships good, means you'll be able to handle a serious one. Maybe with a little help we can re-label society!
Thank you readers, with that I leave you with a favorite quote of mine by Mr. Bob Marley!
